Intergenerational solidarity, human development and social cohesion: the case of a children's play

This communication will address the concept of intergenerational solidarity (Hatton-Yeo 2007) through an empirical case that is part of the field study of Dramaturgies of Conflict:

Discussing Social Protagonism through Theatrical Experiences in Portugal, a postdoctoral research in Integral Human Development.

Through a children's play presented in two sessions in December 2024 and done in collaboration with the Aproximar Oeiras program and the Núcleo de Instrução e Beneficência de Paço de Arcos (both social solidarity institutions), it will be argued that intergenerational theatrical practice presents numerous benefits both for its actresses and playwrights as well as for its audiences, in what constitutes an ethical effort aimed at social cohesion.
