The third edition of the SACRU Summer School will take place from 19 to 23 October 2026 at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, bringing together Ph.D. students from across the SACRU network to reflect on the ethical and conceptual challenges posed by artificial intelligence.
Under the theme “Intelligence and Consciousness: Conceptual and Ethical Challenges for Research in the Age of AI,” the intensive one-week programme will promote interdisciplinary dialogue on the impact of AI across key areas such as healthcare, democratic participation, legal systems, and creative practices.
Through lectures, workshops, and collaborative discussions, participants will explore how AI is reshaping contemporary research and society, while also addressing issues related to the global distribution of risks and benefits and the evolving relationship between biological and synthetic life.
Aligned with the vision of placing the human person at the centre of scientific and technological development, the initiative encourages critical reflection on human dignity, social justice, and the common good in an era of rapid technological transformation.
The Summer School will conclude with the joint drafting of a Declaration of Human-Centric AI, aimed at guiding future research and innovation in a responsible and ethically grounded manner.
Participation is open to Ph.D. students from all disciplines, with a maximum of 18 participants selected across SACRU partner institutions.
Candidate selection at institutional level is expected to be completed by 13 July 2026.
