Cristina Sá Carvalho (Lisbon, 1963) holds a PhD in Political Science and International Relations: Security and Defence, from the Institute of Political Studies of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa and an MA in Educational Psychology. She worked for 15 years as Head of the Psychology Service of a Catholic school, designing strategies to support the individual paths of students, the family-school relationship and teacher training. Since 2003 has been teaching at the UCP Faculty of Theology Psychology and Pedagogy of Religion, Teachers Educational Practices and Curricular Planning at master's level. Between 2008 and 2020 directed the Departments of Formation and Editions, and of Catechesis, in the services of the Portuguese Bishops Conference. She is the coordinator and author of the Program (2014), and Manuals for Catholic Religious Education in Portugal. Has several works published on education, sexuality education, school dynamics, teaching methods and educational policies. Has been a regular columnist for the Grupo Renascença, an Affiliate Member of the APA and a full member of the European Catechesis Team. She specialized in Educational Psychology, Teacher Education, Public Policies of Education and Curriculum Development and in the political thought of Pope Francis. She is also Chair of the jury of the REDschools All4INTEGRITY Education Programme and a researcher at the Centro de Investigação em Estudos Políticos (CIEP- IEP – UCP), currently working the Line for Peace and Civil Society. She lives in Lisbon with her husband and their many books and music albums, and has two adult children, who come over for lunch every Sunday. She is currently an enthusiastic Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the UCP (CADOS Integral Human Development Program).
