European Doctoral Day – Doing a PhD at Católica

Tuesday, February 24, 2026 - 16:30
Celebrating the European Doctoral Day, the Católica Doctoral School - CADOS will offer a presentation and debate of the innovative programs in its campuses in Braga, Porto and Lisbon.

The event will take place online (in English) on May, 13, at 6h00 p.m.

A PhD opens opportunities to many forms of development both on a personal and a professional level and for the community at large. As an original piece of research, a PhD thesis is a valid contribution to the progress of knowledge and the advancement of society. A PhD is built on multiple competencies acquired during three or four years of training. Specific expertise and specialized knowledge are part of these competencies as much as transversal skills like project management, ethical guidance, leadership and career development. The session intends to discuss these topics which characterize doctoral training today:
  • Doctoral Education at Católica: Peter Hanenberg, Católica Doctoral School;    Chair of the Council for Doctoral Education of the European University Association (EUA-CDE)
  • A PhD. A journey of learning and leading, Aline Villas-Boas, Coordinator CADOS
  • Doing Business with a PhD, Católica Porto Business School
  • PhD for Health, Católica Medical school
  • Doctoral training beyond academia, UCP Biotechnology
  • “So proud – I did it, I am a postdoc now”; Fellow of the Postdoc program on Integral Human development at UCP
