For two days, our 2025 fellows stepped away from emails, conferences, and databases to visit Casa Velha, a project deeply rooted in Laudato Si, through ecology and spirituality.
The 2025 DHI postdoctoral fellows presented their projects to a committee of members from Casa Velha. This presented as an opportunity to "build bridges between academic research and local projects grounded in the lived experience of integral ecology", testifies Susana Réfega, member of the Fellowship Committee from CADOS' program as well as Casa Velha's community.
At Casa Velha, the researchers found inspiration in a shared vision of the human being: An integral person—fragile, simple, and unfinished. The experience provided a renewed commitment of DHI's mission towards community, encounter, and co-creation.
The visit was promoted by Rita Sacramento Monteiro, facilitator at the DHI postdoctoral program and PhD candidate in Integral Ecology.
