Teaching 1.0: Introduction to Pedagogy in Higher Education

Program Description

This training programme is designed for early-career lecturers who wish to develop the core competences required for effective teaching in higher education. It aims to train reflective teachers who are able to create more dynamic, accessible, and internationalised learning environments, responding critically and creatively to the transformations taking place in society and education. Across four online sessions, each combining theoretical and practical components, participants will be invited to reflect on the essential dimensions of the teaching and learning process - planning, teaching, and assessment - in an integrated way that supports the continuous improvement of teaching practice.

The programme aims to foster the development of an informed, critical, and reflective professional teaching identity, while providing practical tools for curriculum design, implementing effective teaching strategies, and utilising assessment processes that promote meaningful student learning. Specifically, the course seeks to:

  • Strengthen participants’ capacity to plan, deliver, and assess student learning effectively.
  • Promote the adoption of active, student-centred, and inclusive pedagogical approaches.
  • Encourage reflection on the professional identity of university teachers and their continuous development.
