The quality of doctoral education depends, in part, on the supervisor’s ability to guide, mentor, and inspire.
The continuous development of supervision competences is essential to ensure quality and effectiveness in doctoral education. This inniciative aims to expand supervisors’ repertoire of strategies and methods, promoting a flexible and reflective approach to supervision. It supports supervisors in deepening their understanding of practices, roles, and relationships throughout the supervision process, while encouraging the exchange of experiences and new insights.
This professional development initiative also strengthens pedagogical and interpersonal skills, emphasizing the importance of providing professional, practical, moral, and emotional support to PhD candidates.
Furthermore, it offers a collaborative environment for open discussion, where supervisors can share challenges, reflect on their experiences, and identify creative solutions to enhance the doctoral supervision process.

This workshop is based on an Active Learning approach, engaging participants in both individual and small-group activities focused on key supervision themes. It serves as a unique opportunity to discuss common challenges faced by doctoral supervisors and to promote the exchange of experiences and ideas in search of creative and effective solutions.
The workshop has a one-day format (approximately six hours): Module 1, more conceptual, takes place in the morning, while Module 2, more practical and applied, runs in the afternoon.
In addition to interactive activities and group discussions, participants will have access to specific bibliographic resources and support materials in the field of doctoral education, as well as examples drawn from real supervisory experiences to foster reflection and dialogue.
