Bio

Pedro Franco is an assistant professor (adjunct) at NOVA SBE, a guest lecturer at CIEE Lisbon, a research associate at Universidade do Porto and from March 2025 he is also a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Universidade Católica Portuguesa at the Program for Integral Human Development. Pedro is a PhD in Literary Theory from the University of Lisbon / University of Chicago (FCT PhD Fellowship and recipient of the Professor Francisco Vieira de Almeida Award). He teaches Ethics, Business Ethics (BE), and BE & Leadership. Pedro is particularly interested in the connection between ethics and literature and virtue theory, as well as the ethical foundations of economics. In his post-doctoral research project, Pedro is working on the role and impact of ethics courses in Schools of Business and Economics. His research has been published in national and international reviews, journals, and books. Pedro also collaborates with non-academic forums and organizations. He is a current editorial board member at Brotéria, the oldest Portuguese cultural review, where he often contributes with essays and reviews. He was formerly an editorial assistant at the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum and the reviews editor for Forma de Vida, the open-access journal of the Program in Literary Theory at the University of Lisbon. Pedro is also experienced in active citizenship, advocacy, and education for sustainable development, having worked in Non-Profit, Non-Governmental Development Organizations since 2018.
