Fellow researcher at the Post-Doc Programme in Integral Human Development at Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Elizângela Noronha completed her PhD in Communication Sciences at the University of Coimbra, in November 2023, with the thesis entitled “A universe all your own: journalism and female readers on digital platforms”, financed by FCT. She has a master's degree in Language Studies from the Federal University of Piauí (Brazil) and a bachelor's degree in Journalism from the same institution.

She coordinates the Global Media Monitoring Project (GMMP) in Brazil since 2020 and has been publishing work related to female subjection in/from journalism. Among her most recent publications is the book chapter "From the Beijing action platform to the GMMP 2020 in Brazil: a discussion in the light of feminist criticism of the media", published in 2023 in the book “Gênero na Mídia: o GMMP do Brasil”, organized in partnership with other GMMP members in Brazil.

A journalist with experience in different media, she was also a professor of the Journalism Course at the Federal University of Piauí for two years. Her research interests are currently focused on the following issues: Communication, Journalism, Gender, Intersectionality, Aging, Audiences, Reception Studies and Feminist Political Economy of the Media.
