The Autumn School is an offering from CADOS|IHD for IHD program fellows, students, professionals, and all others interested in the topic.
Aging is a continuous and natural process inherent to human beings. This process can be referred to as human development throughout life. It is a complex process, involving a dialectic between losses and gains, where losses tend to outweigh gains.
In the Autumn School, we invite reflection on this topic based on IHD, which proposes viewing the person as an end in themselves, considering all dimensions of life: economic, social, cultural, political, and spiritual, that is, "the whole person" (Pope Paul VI, 1967). This important concept of the Church's Social Doctrine led Pope Francis to create the Dicastery for IHD in 2016. It is a multidimensional perspective that requires an interdisciplinary analysis, demanding an effort of interaction between different domains of human knowledge for true IHD throughout life.
During the Autumn School, these topics will be reflected upon through both theoretical and practical moments, with participation from UCP Professors and Fellows of the Postdoctoral Program in IHD|UCP. The keynote speaker will be Monika Ardelt, Professor at the University of Florida, a renowned expert and author of the Three-Dimensional Wisdom Scale, with studies on aging and dying well, and the relationship between spirituality and aging well, who will participate via Zoom.
