The Young Scientists Seminar aims to encourage young scientists of exceptional merit to join the Lisbon Academy of Sciences. It has been created by the Academy of Sciences of Lisbon in 2010 (initially within the scope of the Instituto de Altos Estudos da Academia), with the aim of boosting its activity within society and, more specifically, of connecting younger members to the Academy and the scientific community, following the example of what has been happening in other European countries.
The YSS integrates ten young scientists from the field of Science and ten from the Humanities and operates in three-year cycles. The selection (and invitation) of Young Scientists to join the YSS is made by the Directive Committee of the Seminar, after consultation with the Members of the Academy and the Council of Rectors of Portuguese Universities, in accordance with the regulation in force.
This session is part of the YSS activities, Afternoons at the Academy.
