Filipa Rodrigues, leader of the social impact project on the deaf migrant population in the Programme in Integral Human Development, publishes her latest paper in the journal Nature.

The paper is entitled "E-learning is a burden for the deaf and hard of hearing" by Filipa Rodrigues, with Ana Maria Abreu, Ingela Holmström and Ana Mineiro, and was published on 4 June 2022. The journal Nature has 163 years of existence, and publishes works of excellence through peer review in the area of Science and Technology.

The research looks at the effects of the digital environment on deaf and hard of hearing participants, compared to hearing participants, Portuguese Sign Language (PSL) users and non-users.

The paper examines and relates rates of fatigue after performance and task completion in the mentioned populations. These data contribute to the discussion on digitization and methodological models and approaches to education for the deaf and hard of hearing.

The researcher is part of the Postdoctoral Programme in Integral Human Development (IHD), at CADOS (Católica Doctoral School), where she is developing the project on social impact on the deaf migrant population. Her work will support the development of new policies on the reception of deaf migrants and the implementation of educational strategies, bringing these populations to the forefront of society.
