Professor Nancy Preston at CADOS

As guest speaker of the CADOS – Católica Doctoral School course on “Ethics and Integrity in Science”, Professor Nancy Preston, co-director of the International Observatory on End of Life Care, Lancaster University (United Kingdom), participated in the session entitled “Ethical challenges in international collaborative research”. Together with Pablo Hernández-Marrero, Nancy Preston explored the main ethical challenges and research governance when conducting international, transnational, and cross-cultural studies, including research conducted in low-resource settings and developing societies. The session covered issues about research ethics and challenges when designing and conducting international studies across Europe, the Americas, Africa, Australia, and Asia.

The International Course on “Ethics and Integrity in Science” is coordinated by Sandra Martins Pereira, FCT Principal Investigator at CEGE (Research Centre in Management and Economics, Católica Porto Business School) and Dean of the Institute of Bioethics at Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
