CADOS Advisor Training & Development | 1s Edition

With the aim to support UCP faculty from all over the disciplines and fields, CADOS – Católica Doctoral School is offering a series of 04 workshops called “Advisor Training & Development”.  

This series will touch on core components, institutional protocols, knowledge and skills needed to support academic advising, guide professional development, and promote students’ development, progress, and personal and professional success

Main goals  

  • To train yourself in more efficiently advising by identifying your strengths, areas for development, and self-evaluation tools 
  • To become effective guides for your advisees by supporting their learning, career development, decision making, and advancement. 
  • To learn how to establish advising priorities and manage your time; 
  • To learn how to promote more effective, respectful communication and feedback keeping; 
  • To learn how to deal with cultural differences among students  
  • To share what you have to offer and to be inspired by what others have to say

  • 23/02 (17-18:30) – In English - Pirjo Nikander (Directora da Tampere Doctoral School)  - “The needs and perspectives of supervisor training from an international perspective"  
  • 09/03 (17-18:30) - Peter Hanenberg (Director da CADOS) - "Ser orientador na UCP"  
  • 23/03 (17-18:30) - José Manuel Seruya (Universidade Católica Portuguesa) - "Feedback destinado à orientação científica"  
  • 20/04 (18-19:30) - In English - Sandra Martins Pereira (Universidade Católica Portuguesa)  - “Research ethics and ethical challenges in scientific supervision” (18-19:30, 90min)
