On 24 October 2025, Universidade Católica Portuguesa, through the Católica Doctoral School (CADOS), inaugurated the exhibition ‘Memória Viva: Arte e Dignidade no Tempo’ (Living Memory: Art and Dignity in Time) at the Palma de Cima Campus Library in Lisbon.
Open until 28 November 2025, this exhibition brings together works by six senior artists — Elsa Sardinha, Franco Palma, Joana Romeiro, João Espadinha, Maria João Matos Gomes and Sara Velez Malta — and invites reflection on memory, experience and human dignity. The exhibition can be visited during Library hours, Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
More than an exhibition, ‘Memória Viva’ celebrates the artistic creation of authors often removed from contemporary circles, recognising in older artists not only fragility, but above all inner richness and invaluable cultural contribution. By bringing together painting and sculpture, it promotes intergenerational encounters and cultural accessibility, in line with the mission of CADOS and the Integral Human Development Programme.
This project reinforces Universidade Católica Portuguesa's commitment to valuing human dignity and promoting an inclusive culture, where art asserts itself as a space for dialogue and hope.
